Printing

CONNECT Printer labelAll managed printers in CONNECT have unique number, often referred to as the ‘P number’. All printers will have a visible label on them with this number to identify them.

To add a new printer

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then on the Start menu clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Click Add a printer.
  3. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
  4. Click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  5. Select Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature and click next.
  6. Browse through the list of printers, select the printer you require and click OK. Alternatively enter the printer asset tag (e.g. P01234) into the Name box and click Find Now to narrow the search.
  7. Click Next after the printer driver has installed and select Set as the default printer if applicable. Click Finish to complete.

 

To remove a printer

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, click Remove device, and then click Yes

 

Printing documents

  1. Open your document or file.
  2. On the File menu, click Print.
  3. In the Print dialog box that appears, you can choose, which pages to print, and how many copies to print.
  4. Click Preferences or Properties to open up further options and settings for the printer, for example selecting automatic staple on photocopiers.

 

Changing workstations

Any printers which you add on a workstation will remain available to you every time you logon to it. If you use a different workstation these will not be available, follow the instructions above to add any printers you need.

 

Troubleshooting

If a document hasn’t printed check the following

  • Check the print queue and ensure it is for the correct printer. Documents that are listed first will be the first to print.
    1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then on the Start menu clicking Devices and Printers.
    2. Click on your printer’s icon, and then click See what’s printing on the command bar.

 

  • Check the physical printer. Most will have a display which will show any errors, such as out of paper.

 

To cancel a print

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then on the Start menu clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Click your printer’s icon, and then click See what’s printing on the command bar
  3. Right-click the document waiting to be printed, click Cancel, and then click Yes to confirm.
  4. To cancel all print jobs click the Printer menu, click Cancel All Documents, and then click Yes to confirm. The item currently printing might finish, but the remaining items will all be cancelled
