Groupware: The User Consultative Group

A User Consultative Group was formed for consultation within the project. Please see the Call for Participation page for some introductory information and for a record of the early call made via email and the University Staff and Students' Newsletter, Blueprint. In the very early stages of the project the User Consultative Group provided feedback on:

  • the validity of the use-cases used as background to the project (these include those scenarios appended to the ICT Strategic Plan)
  • the look and feel of any solutions demonstrated to them
  • specific criteria for which the Short-listing Panel wishes to receive particular feedback on during any demonstrations

Since the software has been selected, (at the Short-listing Panel meeting of 27 June and the Project Board meeting of 4 July 2008), the priorities of the UCG are to give feedback on:

  • before and after go-live, any general feelings regarding 'learnability' of proposed solutions, as raw material for trainers drawing up training needs analyses
  • after go-live, any user-noticeable configuration issues in order for technical deployment staff to investigate possible improvements to the user experience
  • any general implementation issues that may affect the user experience

If you wish to join the UCG, first join the mailing list by sending a blank message to:

If you have any difficulty with the above, or wish to pass comments on directly to the project team, please email and a member of the team will reply.
