iPhone / iPod Touch ActiveSync Configuration Guide for Oxford Nexus

IMPORTANT: We are currently in the process of moving the University’s centrally managed (Nexus) email and calendaring service to the cloud-based, Microsoft Office 365 service (Nexus365). If your account has been migrated you should now use the Nexus365 support pages where you will find help and advice on using the new service.

What are we going to do?

Configure your Oxford Nexus email account within the native client on your Apple iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod). This will include calendar and contacts synchronisation.  

How to do it

Ensure your iOS device is connected to a data or WiFi network. From the home menu and then go to Settings and select Mail and then Accounts.

From the accounts screen, select Add Account.

Select the Exchange account setup.

Choose account type

In the email field input your nexus email address i.e. In the desciption field enter something which makes it easy to identify later i.e. University of Oxford

In the password field enter your email password (which is the same as your SSO password).

Once you have entered all your details you will see the below screen confirming what has been synchronised with your device. You will have the option to configure your Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders and Notes.

To udpate your Nexus password on your iOS device, click on the Nexus account (i.e. University of Oxford)

From the Nexus account screen, select your Account i.e. to get to the settings, including password and server details.

From this screen you can check the email settings are correct and update the password if needed.
