Below are directions on how to increase the volume of the recorded audio in a Panopto recording. This is usually an ideal solution for improving the overall loudness of a recorded lecture's audio track, e.g, the microphone is too quiet for the duration of a recording and it needs to be louder.
Enabling audio normalisation
A simple checkbox, within the Panopto browser-based editor, can be ticked to apply audio normalisation across a recording's entire audio/microphone track.
Audio normalisation can be applied by following the below steps:
- Navigate to the recording and hover the cursor over the thumbnail image of the session, and click the grey 'Edit' button that appears. The session should open in the editor, in a new web page.
- Locate the 'Normalize audio volume' checkbox at the lower-right hand corner area, just above the recording's timeline, and tick the checkbox.
- Click the blue 'Apply' button, above the video window. Click 'OK' if prompted. The session will process.
NB. The above process can be reversed by unchecking the 'Normalize audio volume' checkbox and clicking 'Apply'.
Below is a short, 30 second video showing the audio normalisation process in Panopto:
