Reconfiguring the HFS Spectrum Protect backup software

The instruction below will reset your Spectrum Protect backup client configurations to defaults.

Windows

You need administrator privileges to reconfigure the Spectrum Protect backup software in Windows.

Reset configurations to defaults

  1. From Start search HFS Hub, and click to run. 
  2. From the top menu, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You may get prompted to grant permissions to the HFS Hub, and please do when prompted.
  4. At the end you should receive a completion message.

Change node or server

  1. From Start search HFS Hub, and click to run. 
  2. From the top menu, select Spectrum Protect -> Change node or server ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You may get prompted to grant permissions to the HFS Hub, and please do when prompted.
  4. At the end you should receive a completion message.

 

macOS

You need administrator privileges to reconfigure the Spectrum Protect backup software on a Mac.

Reset configurations to defaults

  1. To reconfigure the software on machines running:
    • Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You may get prompted to grant permissions to the HFS hub, and please do when prompted.
  4. At the end, you should receive a completion message.

Change node or server

  1. To reconfigure the software on machines running:
    • Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Change node or server ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You may get prompted to grant permissions to the HFS hub, and please do when prompted.
  4. At the end, you should receive a completion message.

 

Linux

 

The method of reconfiguring the Spectrum Protect backup software varies slightly depending on the Spectrum Protect client version and your Linux distribution.

You need to run the reconfiguration with root privileges.

Via HFS Hub GUI

If you have the graphical user interface running on the system, you can run reconfiguration via HFS Hub GUI.

    • Show Applications > HFS Hub
  2. From the top menu of HFS Hub, select Spectrum Protect -> Set configuration to defaults ...
  3. Please follow the wizard to complete the procedure. You may get prompted to grant permissions to the HFS hub, and please do when prompted.
  4. At the end, you should receive a completion message.

Via command line

On machines/systems that HFS Hub GUI is not available, the software can be configured via command line. Below is a summary of the commands required.
