The Panopto mobile app enables students and staff to record, watch and listen to lectures, training videos and other university generated content, recorded with Panopto, on *Android and iOS based mobile devices.
*Android users, if you are using Android 10 or lower, you can only record up to 4GB. It is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of Android
Prerequisites
- A University of Oxford email address and SSO (Single Sign-On) account. For more information on SSO's please visit the following link: Oxford-username-and-SSO.
- A mobile device, e.g. iPad or iPhone with iOS 14 and higher, Android phone or tablet with Android 9 and higher.
- Panopto mobile app installed via the Google Play or Apple App stores.

When opening the app for the first time, you will need to sign in and authenticate your Canvas account against your Panopto account. This should only need to be done once, so if you have already signed in to the app, you can skip these steps and jump to the app guide by clicking the following link: Panopto Mobile App Guide
The following steps are required when opening the Panopto mobile app for the first time:
1. Tap the Panopto app icon and once the app has loaded, enter your university email address, and tap 'Next':
2. On the window that opens, tap 'Continue', to authenticate the Panopto app with your Panopto account:
3. Tap on 'Oxford users' to login to Canvas (which authenticates your Canvas account with Panopto):
4. Enter your SSO (Single Sign-On) and tap 'Next':
5. Enter your SSO password:
6. You will need to verify your identity using either an authenticator app, text message or phone call. Tap on your preferred method and once received, enter the code into the page that loaded:
The Panopto mobile app should now load, and you'll be directed to the app's homepage.
At the bottom of the app, there are three icons that correspond to the app's three main sections: Home, My Stuff, and Browse.
At the top of the Home section, there is a search box where you can search for lectures using keywords, e.g. Ancient Greek
A search will load a new page with two tabs, 'Content' and 'Folders'.
The 'Content' tab features a list of recordings/videos related to your search, that you have access to:
Tapping one of the thumbnails loads the video player and the session should play:
NB. the above screen-grab is playing the session in portrait mode. Rotating your device should automatically adjust the video to full-screen, landscape mode.
The 'Folders' tab shows a list of folders you have access to.
Tapping one of the folders will open it and show a list of available recordings and/or folders:
In the above example, the parent folder has sub-folders within it.
If we open the 'Week 1' folder, there is just one recorded lecture available. Tapping the preview image will load the lecture:
The lecture should start automatically:

If you select the star icon for My Stuff, new sections will appear. Sections include: Shared with Me and Recently Watched.

Shared with Me: Videos that have been shared with you.

Recently Watched: Videos that you have recently watched, including those you may have not finished watching.

My Folder: Videos from your personal folder.

Bookmarked: Your bookmarked videos. Note: This section will only appear if you have created bookmarks while viewing.

Selecting a folder that has subfolders will cause a drop-down menu to appear that allows you to select the subfolder you want to open
NB. You can return to the parent folder by clicking the left-pointing arrow in the upper left corner of the app.
