Educational Media Services (EMS) is the University's main digital video and audio service. Using state-of-the-art equipment, the unit offers a professional service for the University, colleges, related institutions, commercial customers and individuals. Keep in touch with our filming and podcasting news through our Twitter feed here: https://twitter.com/oxfordpodcasts
A list of our various services and technical capabilities is found below:
Digital Video Production & Livestreaming
EMS has the facility to produce broadcast quality video for the web and Oxford on iTunesU. The crew can be hired to film lectures, conferences, interviews and promotional programmes to support and to promote University activities.
Replay Lecture Capture
EMS provides the technical capacity to automate the digital recording of lectures and the lecturer's slides, without the need of a technician present, in order that students may view these at a later date within WebLearn, the University's virtual learning environment.
Degree Ceremony DVDs
EMS has filmed and continues to film all of the Oxford Degree Ceremonies starting from November 1989. These DVDs can be purchased either online or by contacting the unit.
Professional Digital Editing
EMS provides broadcast quality non-linear video editing. Our work is done by professional and experienced in-house editors, who have a speciality working with FCPX filmmaking.
EMS archives a massive quantity of events, visits, and lectures in and around the University of Oxford. We also have some vintage archive Oxford footage which has been donated to us.
EMS currently does not offer a video conferencing service. There are a number of facilities available in the University including suites at Physics and Oxford Medical Illustration based at Oxford University Hospitals.
