How to get audio-visual consultancy or support

Update June 2024: New preferred AV suppliers

A framework agreement is now in place with two preferred AV suppliers for the supply of AV equipment and integration services.

Please contact our Audio-Visual Support Service when you engage either supplier for integration services so that you can access additional support, including guidance if you're unsure which supplier would be best for your requirements.

Most problems experienced when presenting from a computer with AV equipment can be identified and fixed easily without technical staff. The following guides indicate the most commons symptoms and how to resolve them:

Check around the equipment and presenter space for contact details to reach a local team who can provide assistance. If there is nothing to be seen then you can try contacting the building manager or local IT support for the space you're in.

The University has a number of spaces that have been equipped with AV and other facilities specifically for teaching. Contact teachingspace@admin.ox.ac.uk for further information.

We provide information on recommended AV equipment for various scenarios including meeting rooms, teaching spaces and lecture capture set ups:

Once you have an idea of the equipment you want, or if you need assistance to specify a solution not covered above then please contact the University's preferred AV supplier who will be able to help progress your project.

Note: Cabling & presenter / lectern PCs

Please note that the installation of any electrical, data or AV cabling in University buildings must be carried out by separate, approved contractors prior to your AV installation. The University's preferred AV supplier can advise on what cabling is required and the location of sockets, but cannot carry out the installation themselves. For details of current approved electrical, data and AV contractors please contact the Estate Services Helpdesk.

Provision of a suitable computer for the presenter / lectern is the responsibility of the local unit. Again, the University's preferred AV supplier can advise on what would be suitable, but you will need to make arrangements with your local IT team to supply and support this equipment.

For requirements analysis, design, purchase, implementation and support of an AV solution for a teaching or functional space: please contact the University's preferred AV supplier.

For on-site AV support at an event or series of events: please contact a local supplier used by several departments and colleges.
