Printing on managed staff desktops

Add Printer

  1. Make sure the printer you want to add is turned on and connected to a network (network / shared printers) or your PC (home / USB printers) as appropriate
  2. Press Windows  + I then select Devices > Printers & Scanners
  3. Click Add a printer or scanner
  4. Wait 10–15 seconds while the list populates, but do not click on any of the printers shown
  5. After a few moments, you should see The printer that I want isn’t listed – click on this link
  6. Select Find a printer in the directory… > Next
  7. Browse through the list of printers, select the printer you require and click OK. Alternatively, use the search fields to find it - the P-number displayed on the physical printer (e.g. P0123) should match if you enter it into Name and click Find Now
  8. Follow the prompts to complete installation, selecting Set as the default printer if desired

You may need to restart any open applications in order to print from them successfully, even if the new printer is listed immediately.

Further Information

Most printers, copiers and multi-function devices have an identification label showing the device's "P-number". This unique identifier will help you add or remove the correct printer, and should be included when contacting the Service Desk for printing support.

Printers are specific to the device that you set them up on. When you use a device for the first time, you will need to set up any printers that you want use.
