Applies to: MS Authenticator app on Android (Samsung, Google, Motorola etc)
Symptoms
Error “No passkeys available” is displayed on your device and “Something went wrong” is shown in your web browser when you use Microsoft Authenticator for MFA sign-in.
Solution 1: Enable Microsoft Authenticator as a passkey provider
Android upgrades may apply settings that prevent Microsoft Authenticator from working with passkeys. You can confirm and reset this as follows:
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on your device. It should display a warning that reads " Passkeys are turned off"
- Select Turn on and follow the instructions to re-enable Microsoft Authenticator as a passkey provider
- If Microsoft Authenticator does not show this warning, then access Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Password, passkeys, and autofill. If Microsoft Authenticator is shown with a toggle then set the toggle to On; Otherwise select Preferred service and set Microsoft Authenticator as the preferred passkey service provider
- You should now be able to use Microsoft Authenticator to sign-in with existing passkeys, and set up new passkey access for your Oxford SSO account
