How to set up your new mobile phone

This guidance is intended for personal mobile phones and tablets. If you have a business mobile phone or tablet then contact your local IT team for guidance on how to keep it secure.

 

If you have a new mobile phone or tablet then we recommend the following steps to prepare it for use with your University IT accounts:

  1. Check that your phone is still supported (see the Which! phone support calculator) and configured to install security updates (iPhone / iPad / Mac; Android/Google; Samsung)
  2. Set up basic security (PIN, autolock and remote wipe)
  3. Connect to eduroam WiFi
  4. Install Sophos Intercept-X from your phone's app store
  5. Setup Microsoft authenticator for MFA
  6. Connect to University email and calendar
