Adobe Licensing

Adobe Creative Cloud products are licensed on an annual subscription basis through Adobe's VIP scheme. A full list of the applications and pricing is available from the software shop. Per-user licences will be ordered and assigned to your Oxford email address. After you have ordered a Creative Cloud application, you will need to create an Adobe ID with your Oxford email address as your username in order to use the software. Available products include:

  • Adobe Captivate 2019
  • Photoshop Elements 2019

Lightroom and Premier Elements are also available under the Adobe CLP perpetual licensing scheme.

Please order all software, including Adobe licences, through our purchasing form to ensure that licences are bought against the correct Adobe account numbers.

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 is available as an optional upgrade for all managed staff PCs. It might not support all integrations with business applications or data interfaces - if you require this functionality then we recommend the pre-installed version of Microsoft Office.

To upgrade to Microsoft Office 365 on a managed staff PC: submit a Managed Desktop Service Application request. Once this is ready you will be able to select the Microsoft Office 365 upgrade from the Oxford Applications Installer.

You are free to install extensions / add-ins within your web browser. You should not require administrator access to do this, and any requirement for this indicates a security risk with your chosen extension.

Please be aware that browser updates may render extensions unusable or unstable without notice. If you are experiencing problems with your web browser you can enable / disable specific extensions to determine whether one of them has caused the problem:

A number of additional applications can be installed under your normal login. These are not managed by us and we cannot provide any assurances, advice or support for them further than the information provided here.

Important: software licensing

You are responsible for ensuring that you are appropriately licensed for your installation and use of any software applications that are not managed by us:

  • All software must be licensed, even if it is free
  • Personal-use and many non-commercial licences are not adequate
  • You must retain evidence of your licence to install and use the software, and be able to present this on request

Important: security and updates

You must ensure that any unmanaged software that you install or use is secure:

  • Review the software and ensure that it is free from any security, functional or non-functional issues
  • Check for, review and install security updates - these should be installed within 24hrs of release (or before any other use of the PC) where a vulnerability is addressed
  • You should be prepared to provide compliance information such as a third-party security assessment or data privacy impact assessment in relation to the software or your use of any unmanaged software

The following applications may be used as unmanaged applications:

  • NVDA - screen reader - run the installer
  • OpenSSL - X509 certificate manager / SSL client (do not use as SSL server) - unzip and run from local directory
