Printing

Applies to: Managed Staff Desktops.

Method 1: Add Printer

  • Make sure the printer you want to add is turned on and connected to a network (network / shared printers) or your PC (home / USB printers) as appropriate
  • Press Win windows logo + I, select Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Click Add a printer or scanner
  • If the printer you want to add is shown then select it and click Add device and follow the prompts to install your printer
  • If the printer you want is not shown then click The printer that I want isn’t listed
  • Select Find a printer in the directory…, then Next
  • Browse through the list of printers, select the printer you require and click OK. Alternatively, use the search fields to find it - the P-number displayed on the physical printer (e.g. P0123) should match if you enter it into Name and click Find Now
  • Follow the prompts to complete installation, selecting Set as the default printer if desired

Method 2: Manage Printer Settings

  • Press Win windows logo + I, select Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Select a printer and click Manage to see all options
  • Click Printing preferences to change default print job settings, or other options as required

 

Method 3: Cancel, Pause or Review Print Jobs

  • Press Win windows logo + I, select Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Select a printer and click Open queue to view printing that you have sent
  • From here you can select one or more print jobs and control them using options on the Document menu

 

Method 4: Remove Printer

  • Press Win windows logo + I, select Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Select the printer you want to remove
  • Click Remove device and confirm any prompts

 

Further Information

  • CONNECT Printer labelAll physical printers, copiers and multi-function devices that are managed in CONNECT have a label showing a unique identifier in the form P0123, sometimes referred to as the ‘P number’. This unique identifier will help you find the printer when adding or managing it, and you can use it when reporting a problem or fault to the Service Desk.
  • Any printers which you add on a workstation will remain available to you every time you logon to it. If you use a different workstation these will not be available, follow the instructions above to add any printers you need.
