MFA: Signing in using different authentication methods
Short guides to show you how to sign in using your Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO) once multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been enabled
Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO) account using MS Authenticator Push Notification.
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select your account at the Single Sign-On (SSO) page

- Enter your password and click Sign in
- A push notification will now be sent to your device

- On your device you will receive a notification. You may need to unlock your phone. Only Approve the notification if you have requested the login.
Click Approve

- You will now be logged into your account.
Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO) account using MS Authenticator One-Time Password (OTP).
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to Microsoft Authenticator.
- On the login screen on your computer, you need to select "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" and then "Use a verification code from my mobile app"
- Open the Authenticator app on your phone. You should see a six-digit "one-time password code" which refreshes every 30 seconds
- Type the six-digit code into the login screen on your computer and select "verify"
- Your account should be verified and you will be logged in
Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO), using text message as a verification method.
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to text message.
- Select your account at the Single Sign-On (SSO) page

- Enter your password and click Sign in
- Enter the verification code received in the text message and click Verify

Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO), using phone call as a verification method.
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to phone call.
- Select your account at the Single Sign-On (SSO) page

- Enter your password and click Sign in
- The Approve sign in request screen will be showing. You will receive a phone call

- Answer the call, listen to the automated message, and press the # key to verify your identity and complete the process.
Note: the voice may say "hash" or "pound" key, but you should always press the # key in either case - You will now be logged into your account.
Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO) account using the Authy mobile app.
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to Authenticator app. It’s recommended you open the Authy mobile app before you login.
- Select your account at the Single Sign-On (SSO) page

- Enter your password and click Sign in
- Select your account from the Authy app e.g. Nexus365. You may be prompted for a password to decrypt your account
- Type the six-digit passcode from the Authy app in the Enter code page and click Verify

- You will now be logged into your account
Once you have setup multi-factor authentication please follow these instructions to sign-in to your Single Sign-On (SSO) account using the Authy desktop app.
This guide assumes that the default authentication method is set to Authenticator app. It’s recommended you open the Authy desktop app before you login.
- Select your account at the Single Sign-On (SSO) page

- At verify identity page click 'Use a verification code from my mobile app'
