Service Desk

The Central IT Service Desk helps members of the University of Oxford make the most of IT services and provides support when issues arise. 

We are part of a wider network of IT support across the University, offering help and advice on IT matters. We focus on services managed by IT Services and can assist you with accounts and password issues, access to University systems, and troubleshooting and general IT queries.

Urgent queries and 24/7 support

  • For urgent IT queries, please call 01865 612345 via telephone or Microsoft Teams. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please have your University Card number to hand when you call.

  • When the Service Desk is closed, you can also raise queries and get help using Ember Chat, our new AI chat assistant. Ember can answer common IT questions, guide you through troubleshooting and escalate your query to a human when needed.

When submitting a request, please include details such as the software being used and any error messages. You should never include passwords in a message. 

Online requests will be processed between 8:30am and 5:00pm weekdays. Account management services such as issuing rescue/activation codes and setting email delegation rights are only possible during the core hours of 8:30am to 5pm weekdays (not including bank holidays).
