Add custom backgrounds in Teams

To add a custom background from within the Teams application:

 

  1. Open the Teams application.
  2. Ensure device has a usable camera.
  3. Select the Calendar menu item.
  4. Select Meet now > Start meeting
  5. Beneath the camera preview, select Background Filters
  6. Select Add new then locate the image you wish to add.

Too many images may impact the performance of Teams.  To add or remove custom backgrounds to Teams in devices running Windows:

 

  1. If not already installed, install the Teams client available by logging into https://teams.microsoft.com/ and clicking on 'download desktop app' icon
  2. Right click on the Window's Start menu, then select File Explorer
  3. Add the following to File Explorer's location bar (replacing XXXX with the name of your user account):
    C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads
    
  4. Add or remove any background images from the folder
  5. When you next initiate a call or meeting you will then be able to select your new background images. (The preview pane may show the image in reverse, but it will display correctly in your meeting).

  1. If not already installed, install the Teams client available by logging into https://teams.microsoft.com/ and clicking on 'download desktop app' icon
  2. Navigate to the following folder (replacing XXXX with the name of your user account)
    Macintosh\HD/Users/XXXXX/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/Backgrounds/Upload
    
  3. Add or remove any background images from the folder.
  4. When you next initiate a call or meeting you will then be able to select your new background images. (The preview pane may show the image in reverse, but it will display correctly in your meeting)
