Backing Up and Restoring Your Favourites for Migration to SSO Login

A guide for backing up your browser bookmarks prior to migrating to SSO login, and how to restore the bookmarks once migration has completed.

If you are already signed in and syncing with:

  • Microsoft Edge using your Nexus SSO account,

  • Google Chrome using your Google account, or

  • Mozilla Firefox using your Mozilla account,

then you do not need to back up your favourites manually— they are already stored in the cloud.

Microsoft Edge

To backup...

  1. Open Edge
  2. Click Favourites (★) or press Ctrl + Shift + O
  3. In the Favourites pane, click More options (⋯) → Export favourites
  4. Save the HTML file to your H: drive

 

Restore...

  1. Open Edge
  2. Click Favourites (★) or press Ctrl + Shift + O
  3. In the Favourites pane, click More options (⋯) → Import favourites
  4. Choose Import from file, select your HTML file from the H: drive, and click Open
  5. After importing, check that your favourites appear correctly in the browser.
Google Chrome

Backup...

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click More (⋮) → Bookmarks → Bookmark manager
  3. In Bookmark Manager, click More (⋮) → Export bookmarks
  4. Save the HTML file to your H: drive

Restore...

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click More (⋮) → Bookmarks → Import bookmarks and settings
  3. In the dialog, choose Bookmarks HTML file, click Choose File, and select your HTML file from the H: drive
  4. After importing, check that your favourites appear correctly in the browser
Mozilla Firefox

Backup..

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click Library (☰) → Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks
  3. In the Library window, click Import and Backup → Export Bookmarks to HTML
  4. Save the HTML file to your H: drive

Restore...

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click Library (☰) → Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks
  3. In the Library window, click Import and Backup → Import Bookmarks from HTML
  4. Select your HTML file from the H: drive and click Open
  5. After importing, check that your favourites appear correctly

Microsoft Edge is now automatically logged into your Nexus SSO, so will sync to the cloud.

We recommend logging into Chrome and/or Firefox with their Cloud Sync mechanisms to ensure your favourites are also backed up.
