Chorus teleconferencing

Notice: Telephony replacement project

In response to BT switching off analogue lines in late 2025, the Telephony Replacement Project is currently coordinating the replacement of centrally managed analogue and critical phone lines.  In future (likely later in 2025) the project will also be reviewing the Chorus VOIP (digital line) service. For more information see the Telephony replacement project webpage.

An audio conference can be made by using the 'Conference' button on the Chorus handsets (35G and 55G models examples below), or the conference icon button/softkey on other models.

The procedure is the same but the conference icon button/softkey varies between models, so please see the 'Make a Conference Call' on the below guides

These are designed for small audio conferences (tested with up to 6 participants), and the person starting the conference needs to connect the other participants one at a time (there is no separate conference bridge number)

If dialing out to mobile/international participants, then the appropriate dialing rights will be required on the extension number initiating the conference call.  Dialing right changes can be requested via your local telephone coordinator

For anything larger and that requires scheduling, please use Teams.

To make a conference call on a 35G model phone, see 'Make a conference' on the OpenScape 35G Quick Reference Guide

To connect more people to the conference, repeat steps 1-4 when on step 5

The steps are:

  1.  During a call with party A, press the 'Conference' button on the phone.
  2.  Hear dial tone. Party A is automatically on hold.
  3. Enter the phone number for party B and press OK
  4. Once connected with party B, press Conference.
  5. You are now connected in a conference with parties A and B - repeat steps 1-4
