How to access Nexus365 applications on managed staff PCs

Microsoft Office 2019 (64-bit) is pre-installed on all managed staff PCs. This version of Office includes features for integration with Nexus365 facilities, such as opening/saving documents in OneDrive for Business, creating Teams meetings using Outlook, and attaching OneDrive files as secure links in an email.

Office 2019 provides enhanced integration with Nexus365 that improves performance, reliability and adds further features.

Method 1: Outlook on the Web

Outlook is available on the web from any desktop. This method is usually the fastest method of accessing your email and guarantees an up-to-date view of your email account.

Method 2: Outlook Desktop

Outlook is installed on all managed staff desktops. The very first time you use Outlook on a managed staff desktop you will be prompted to set it up for your email account. If you open Outlook on a different desktop or laptop then you will be prompted to login again so that Outlook can complete automatic setup.

Method 2: Teams Desktop App

Additional functions, such as screen sharing, are available with the Teams desktop app. To install the desktop app:

  1. Select the Start  button, search for oxford and select Oxford Applications Installer
  2. Click Microsoft Teams Install and confirm any prompts that appear. If this item is not available then the application has already been installed
  3. After a few minutes Teams will be installed
  4. Select the Start  button, search for teams and select Microsoft Teams

Method 2: OneDrive Sync Client

You can also view and edit your OneDrive for Business (ODFB) files as if they were on your local PC. Files you open are copied to your PC, and any changes are synchronised back to ODFB cloud storage and your other devices.

  1. Select the Start  button, search for onedrive and select OneDrive (App)
  2. If you have already set up ODFB on this computer then it will open your OneDrive - Nexus folder so you can browse the files
  3. If you have not used ODFB on this computer before then follow the prompts to set up ODFB and login

By default, OneDrive on managed staff desktops will keep an offline copy of any files that you access but will not download any other files. If you need offline access to other files or folders then you will need to find them in Windows Explorer, right-click on the file or folder name, and choose Always keep on this device.

This section refers to the OneNote app, which provides a "modern" note-taking interface that succeeds the version of OneNote included with Microsoft Office.

Method 2: OneNote App

The OneNote app includes functions to sync a local copy, enabling you to work offline. To install the desktop app:

  1. Visit OneNote for Windows 10 and select Get
  2. This will open the OneNote page in the Microsoft Store on your PC. Select Get and confirm any prompts to install OneNote
  3. Select Open once the installation completes (which will be very fast if the app is already installed)
