How to log in to managed staff PC with SSO login

Migrated managed staff PCs can now be accessed using your SSO account. (Please note there is a configuration change that is required before existing CONNECT computers are able to use SSO login).  Once logged in to your PC, your SSO will work without the need for MFA in the following applications, Microsoft Edge (any SSO-required website visited), Office, Outlook & Teams, OneDrive and the Cisco VPN client. You will also automatically have access to departmental network drives.

  1. If at the login screen your username is not abcd1234@ox.ac.uk, then click the "Other User" button, bottom left of screen
  2. Enter your SSO username in the format abcd1234@ox.ac.uk
  3. Enter your SSO password. This initial login may take some time as it re-syncs your data from the H: drive. The more files you have, the longer this stage may take
  4. You should then be presented with “Windows Hello Setup” and you can configure your 6 digit PIN plus Hello Camera / Fingerprint login – if your hardware supports it, (PIN available to all). You will be prompted to complete MFA.
  5. Once the desktop is shown – PLEASE REBOOT. This just makes sure all the policies load in correctly.
  6. Log in again, this time you will use Windows Hello and the login should be significantly faster.
  7. Once you login, configure your email and check all restored settings. If you use generic or delegated mailboxes that are not setup to auto-map, these will need to be re-added in Outlook. You will require the name of the mailbox to which you have access or the email address of this account.
