University card
An active University card is required to access almost all IT resources.
Your university card is managed by your local administrators or HR team.
Single sign-on (SSO) account
Your SSO account is automatically created on the day after your university card.
Once you activate your SSO, you will be able to sign in to services including:
- Email - Your University email account
- VPN - Remotely connect to the University network
- Teams - Collaboration hub for meetings, messages and file sharing
- SharePoint - Shared files and resources
- Self Registration - Manage your account and access certain software
University WiFi
The eduroam WiFi service is available across the University. Full setup details for this are available on our how to connect to eduroam WiFi page.
Although eduroam is our recommended WiFi service, you may also be able to access other WiFi services across the University.
Shared mailboxes
Shared mailboxes are used routinely to manage enquiries and organise meetings and events through a shared calendar.
The owner of a shared mailbox can request that their local IT support team add or remove access to the mailbox, or they can complete the Generic Email Account Delegation service request.

CONNECT account
A CONNECT account is used by staff within University Administration and Services (UAS), Gardens Libraries and Museums (GLAM), Bodliean Libraries, and a number of other departments to sign in to services including:
The account is requested by your line manager and may take up to 5 working days to create.
Staff managed PCs
The staff managed PC service is used by staff within UAS, GLAM, Bodliean Libraries and a number of other departments. Assistance is available on how to login to the device for the first time.
Details of the software installed on staff managed PCs are available on the applications on the managed staff PC page, together with details of the pre-approved applications that can be added through the Oxford Application Installer.
Installation of additional software can be requested using the Managed Desktop Service Application service request, though additional applications may require licences to be purchased by your department.
